Bottle Triggers, Caps and Taps
Every SoapX bottle ships with a safety cap and no sprayer. Buy the trigger, pouring cap or tap you need once, move it from bottle to bottle and keep the plastic out of the bin. This page explains what each one does, when it is the right choice and when it is not.
Quick guide:
- 500ml ready to use sprays (wheel cleaner, degreaser, fallout remover, sealant, glass and interior): the 250ml to 1L trigger spray.
- 1L and 250ml concentrates (pre rinse, snow foam and shampoo): the pull top cap.
- 500ml polish: the pull top cap.
- 250ml samples: the same closures as the full size bottle. The 250ml to 1L trigger spray for anything you spray, the pull top cap for polish.
- 5L containers: the dispensing tap.
Full details
Trigger spray for 250ml to 1L bottles
A full size trigger that screws onto any 250ml, 500ml or 1L SoapX bottle. The nozzle has three settings: a wide spray, a narrow stream and locked.
- What it is for: putting a ready to use product straight onto the surface in an even coat.
- Use it with: No.03 Wheel and Rim Cleaner, No.04 Drivetrain and Chain Degreaser, No.06 Fallout and Tar Remover, No.08 Wax and Sealant, No.09 Glass and Visor Cleaner and No.10 Interior and Trim Cleaner. Choose spray to cover a wheel or panel and stream to reach into barrels, arches and chain links.
- Do not use it with: the concentrates. No.01 Pre Rinse and Bug Remover, No.02 Snow Foam and No.05 Contact Shampoo are diluted before use, so a trigger on the bottle would spray neat concentrate. Skip it for No.07 Polish and Paint Prep too, which is too thick to spray and will clog the nozzle.
- Good to know: the Extreme formulas are harder on a sprayer than the rest of the range. Fit the trigger for the job, take it off afterwards, flush it with clean water and put the original cap back on the bottle.
Want to spray a diluted concentrate? Mix it in a separate bottle made for the job, such as our Chemical Resistant Trigger Bottle or the Pump Pressure Sprayer.
Pull top cap for 250ml to 1L bottles
A pouring cap with a push and pull spout. Pull the spout up to open it and push it down to close it. It gives a thin, steady stream when you tip or gently squeeze the bottle.
- What it is for: measuring out a product you pour, without the glug and splash of an open bottle neck.
- Use it with: the concentrates, when dosing No.05 Contact Shampoo into a bucket or pouring pre rinse and snow foam into a Snow Foam Cannon bottle or pump sprayer. It also suits polish, where you want a few drops on a pad, and any cleaner you would rather put onto a cloth than spray, such as interior cleaner near screens and switches.
- Do not use it with: products that need to cover a surface evenly. Wheel cleaner, fallout remover and sealant all work best sprayed.
- Good to know: the spout can be knocked open and the cap is not leak proof if the bottle lies on its side. Put the original cap back on before the bottle goes in a car boot or kit bag.
Dispensing tap for 5L containers
A tap that screws onto the 5L container in place of its cap, so you can run off exactly what you need.
- What it is for: filling a foam cannon bottle, pump sprayer or measuring jug without lifting and tipping a full 5 litre container.
- Use it with: the 5L sizes of pre rinse and snow foam. With the tap fitted and closed, lay the container on its side on a sturdy shelf or bench with the tap at the lowest point and clear of the edge. Open the tap slowly and close it fully when you are done.
- Do not use it: when moving or transporting the container. Stand the container upright and refit the original cap first. It does not fit the 250ml to 1L bottles.
- Good to know: it earns its place if you refill often, in a busy garage or valeting bay. If you decant once or twice a month, the cap the container arrives with does the job.
Fitting, care and safety
How to fit: unscrew the cap your bottle arrived with and keep it somewhere safe. Screw on the trigger, cap or tap by hand until it is snug. If the dip tube on a trigger is longer than the bottle, trim it with scissors so it sits just above the base. Bear in mind that a tube trimmed for a 500ml bottle will not reach the bottom of a 1L.
Care: lock the trigger nozzle and close spouts and lids between uses. Flush a trigger through with clean water before moving it to a different product, so two products never mix inside it. Keep the product in its own labelled SoapX bottle.
Safety: triggers, pouring caps and taps are not child resistant. Refit the original cap before you store or transport any bottle, and keep it out of the reach of children. Always read the label and safety data sheet for the product you are using.
