What is on the job card

  • Customer and vehicle: name, contact, registration, mileage, fuel, keys and locking wheel nut
  • Services booked: twelve common services to tick
  • Condition check: eighteen panels and areas, each with scratch, swirl, chip and dent boxes and a notes column
  • Before work starts: photos, damage agreed, valuables returned
  • Customer sign in
  • Handover: walk round, aftercare, keys, payment and next visit
  • Customer sign out with space for aftercare notes

Every field is left blank, ready to fill in by hand.

Why every detailer needs one

  • It settles disputes before they start. Damage agreed and signed for at drop off cannot become your fault at collection.
  • It looks professional. Customers notice when you walk round with a clipboard.
  • It sets expectations. Writing down the services booked, and any cure time, stops arguments over what was included.

Nearside and offside

The condition check uses UK terms. Nearside (N/S) is the passenger side on a right hand drive car, offside (O/S) is the driver side. It matches the way insurers and body shops record damage.

Pair it with photos

The sheet is the record, the photos are the proof. Take every panel, each wheel, the interior and the dash with the ignition on to show any warning lights. Take your finished photos from the same angles for a fair before and after. Use the cost per wash calculator to make sure your pricing covers your product costs.

How to get the most from it

  • Print a stack and keep them on a clipboard in the van or unit.
  • Keep the signed copy with your job records.
  • Use it alongside the Full Detail Workflow checklist, which follows this one in the series.

Quick answers

What should a car detailing job card include?

Customer and vehicle details, the services booked, a panel by panel condition check, notes of items left in the car and signatures at drop off and collection.

Do mobile valeters need a vehicle condition report?

It is strongly recommended. A signed record of existing damage is the simplest protection against claims that damage happened during the job.

Can I share this job card with my team?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need and share it freely. Please do not resell it.
